The Chili Peppers were awesome Saturday night. Truly inspirational.

A big Get Well Soon goes out to Brandt Jones from Atomic Johnson. Hope that ankle heals fast.

Had a short but productive practice last night. Finished up the last of the new tunes for the Mill Rock 'premiere'. From here in it will just be working on the sets to get them as tight and fluid as we can. In the midst of that work we fell into a really kickin' jam on 'I'm A Man', the old Spencer Davis Group / Chicago song. That was a bunch of fun and I wouldn't be surprised if that shows up in the rep at some point. Definitely our own take on it.
We got another date at Michael's Lounge in West Sand Lake, which was one of our favorite FR stages so you can mark those dates on your calendar - Saturday Jan. 6 and Saturday Feb. 10. There is also a date at the Geyser Sports Pub on Friday Jan. 12. Hopefully we will have more dates to report soon. In the meantime, we hope everyone can make it out to the Mill Rock on Nov. 4 for the Premiere. An e-mail will go out to the mailing list folks in the next couple of weeks with directions and all that so if you want in on that send an e-mail to 'groundwurx@yahoo.com' and you will be added to the list.

Spent the weekend with Jason, who is working on our new Web Site. I had a chance to see it and it is coming along nicely. I think we will have it up and running pretty soon. Waiting to see how much space we will need. There will be a few Mp3s for you to preview.

Stopped in and talked to Glenville Saloon on Friday, where Denny had dropped off a kit last week. They are very psyched to have us there, but are thinking about switching from Friday nights to Saturday (good) or possibly also Thursday (not so good). I should have dates from them in a couple of weeks. In case you don't know the place, it is the old Allen's in Glenville. They have it fixed up nice and it looks like a good stage for us, so hopefully it will make a great central location for us, not too far North (Saratoga, Glens Falls) and not too far South (West Sand Lake, Albany). Our hope is to have 2-3 places in each region to rotate every 9 weeks or so. That would put us in each region once every 3 weeks, which hopefully wouldn't burn us our anywhere. We'll see how it goes.

As I said in the last post, we don't want to reveal what songs we will be doing until after we premiere at the Mill Rock on Nov. 4 (mark that date!), so you will just have to come and see. After that, we will try to make a practice of not revealing what NEW songs we are working on for essentially the same reason.

Not sure what will come of this, but I hope it will become an interactive conversation between all of us in Groundwürx and our audience.

Where things stand right now -
Bill, Rick and I (Brüs) have left The FossilRock Show to form Groundwürx - a 3-piece rock band with an emphasis on finding unusual and challenging songs to play in a 3-piece context. We are trying to keep our ideas open to anything that might be interesting to play and enjoyable to our audience. We have been practicing for a couple of weeks now (there were several weeks during the summer we couldn't get together due to various work schedules) and are honing our sets for an upcoming gig at the Mill Rock Tavern in Milton, NY. We also have dates booked for the Geyser Pub and Michael's and are currently in talks with a few other places as well. We hope to be playing pretty steadily by January.

I don't want to spoil the surprises by revealing the setlist yet, but once we get out, hopefully we will get feedback on the selections and maybe one purpose of this blog can be for our fans to suggest or critique songs for us.

What I will say is that there are some favorites left from the FossilRock list and some really cool new songs. Judging from how things have been going at practice, the format is a little looser, but the playing has been really tight and spanning many genres. There are still the lights and sound we had in FR, and Denny and Ricky are still manning those for us. All in all, we think this new venture is going to be a lot of fun and give people some great music to groove to. Can't wait to get it out there.
